The story of this song…
In my (relatively) short life, I've never known a time when it has been harder to separate a truth from a lie. My mind, my gut, my families’ little world has been turned upside down this year. Just like most everyone else’s. And honestly, only the crushing, ancient, waterfall truths of scripture have brought me back to life again and again. Maybe we’re all being reset... re-born... if we’re willing.
Almost two millennia ago the apostle Paul spoke to the people of Athens, Greece. He said that, “[God] is actually not far from each one of us, for ‘in Him we live and move and have our being’.
He went on to declare the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people. It says that some believed and some mocked.
I want to be a person that believes.
Our new song ‘You Are Not Far’ is the first off our brand new album which will be released in two parts over the next few months. Never have I written worship songs that are more simple, more brutal, more intimate than these ones. And more hopeful.
I hope this new music will bring you some healing. I pray that we (every human) would discover or re-discover who we are. His beloved. His children. His light in this world. We have nothing to fear. Nothing to lose... Fix your gaze on the God who delights in being sought. He is not far from us. He is right here.
